Mayo College Girls’ School is a boarding school for girls, affiliated to CISCE and CAIE (Cambridge) boards. It nurtures the spirit of excellence in every student. It maintains a good balance between traditional and modern education, constantly moving forward in the quest for knowledge. It offers an open environment to students for expressing their creativity and honing their skills.

The General Council and Board of Governors' decision to establish an exclusive, residential school for girls on the 46-acre field—previously known as the Polo Ground and later utilised as a playground and farmland—left a lasting impression on Mayo College's history.

The Bhoomi Pujan and the foundation stone-laying ceremony on August 1, 1987, were historic events. Construction work proceeded on a war footing, and the hiring of staff and the admissions procedure got under way immediately.

The institution, now referred to as the "Sister School" of Mayo College, works to realise the founders' original aim.

We will go out of our way to ensure that the Girls' School's ethos is infused with Indian traditions and culture while also taking the difficulties of the present and the future into consideration. The Mayo College Girls' School will place a strong emphasis on Indian values, dance, and theatre in the lives of its students.

The object of true education is to make children not merely to do right but to enjoy doing so. Great ideas belong to everybody and every generation stands on the frontiers of the mind. We encourage the individuality of every child and yet at the same time inculcate in her a sense of responsibility and consideration for others. We believe that finally a person is worth not what she has or even what she does but what she is.

In a world of ideas there is always pioneering to be done and we prepare students to face new challenges and urge them to seek originality. We also know it is equally important to root a child in the rich Indian culture and tradition and teach her to respect every creed. Our curriculum and activities reflect this aim.

Inculcating a respect for work and human dignity is another objective we strive for. We teach our students to reach out to others through social service programmes and our S.U.P.W (Socially Useful Productive Work) classes teach children the value of work ethics and community service.

The following is the procedure for getting admission to the school:

  • Registration is done through the official website.
  • The applicant will receive an entrance date, which will be dated by the mid of November. Following which a writing round will be held online.
  • Subjects checked for the assessment will be logical mathematics, English, Hindi etc.
  • If the applicant clears the writing round, the date for the Interview will be mailed.
  • If the applicant clears the interview, an offer letter will be sent within 2-3 weeks and further the applicant can proceed with fee deposition.

The merit list is created by Mayo College Ajmer based on aptitude analysis results. You will be contacted for an encounter in the months of December, January, or February if your child qualifies. The cumulative results of the interaction and the aptitude analysis determine your girl's admittance. In April, the new session gets started.

We also aim to bring out the best in every student. We trace and follow her academic progress closely and we provide an enriched environment where we enable her to develop her talents in dance, music, art, writing and communication and to train her skills in games and athletics. At our school we believe it is important to teach a child but it is even more important to make her want to learn.

Life at our school

Perched at an altitude of 2000 to 2300 meters above sea level on a south-facing slope, the school offers breathtaking views of the Doon Valley, Tehri Hills, and the Shivalik range. From its highest ridge, the majestic Bandarpoonch peaks (6,316 m) and other Himalayan snow peaks can be seen.

With a rich history spanning over 160 years, Woodstock has played a significant role in shaping the world we live in today. The school was established during the East India Company’s rule, and was managed by Americans during the British Raj. At times, it even served as a refuge for those who opposed British rule in India. Over the years, the school has witnessed two World Wars, Indian independence and partition, and several subsequent political upheavals, all of which have left their mark on the alumni and Henneettee kal.
