To educate British boys and the Indian aristocracy during the Raj, the British built Sherwood College Nainital in India in 1869. One of Nainital's oldest and most distinguished boarding schools is this one. It is a coed residential school and is renowned for offering the greatest education in the nation. Constructed in a green 45- acre lot,837ft., above ocean position and immolation spectacular lookouts of the hills and denes of the hill station of Nainital, the Sherwood lot is an aesthetic mix of post-Edwardian style structures stretched with Gothic patterned windows, Romanesque bends, oak panelled walls, sturdy timber shafts, patios, and ultramodern structures. Academic and co-curricular education installations include smart boards in all the classes, state of the art wisdom, computer and robotics labs, two amphitheatres – the heritage 400- seat Millman  Hall and state- of- the- art 900- seat Baston Centre-- separate caravansaries for girls and boys and three dining halls. 

Sherwood College Nainital is an academy connected to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations( CISCE). Under the guidance of Rev. Robert Milman, the Seventh Metropolitan of India, the Diocesan Boys School was established in 1869. Having successfully maintained its path through the unpredictable pre-independence age and two World Wars until the dawn of a free India, this 149- time-old academy has surfaced as a part model co-educational domestic (class III- XII) institution. The education that children at the academy admit is well- rounded and includes academics, adulterous conditioning, and sports.

In our bid to insure a holistic development of the scholars in other areas piecemeal from Academics, it becomes imperative for us to give the right terrain and structure for the scholars to enable them to exceed in all sporting and co-curricular conditioning for which the academy is well equipped. 

Academic and co-curricular education installations include smart boards in all the classrooms, state of the art wisdom, computer and robotics labs, two amphitheaters – the heritage 400- seat Millman Hall and state- of- the- art 900- seat Baston Centre, One Audio Visual Room, Pemberton Studio- Conference Room--- separate caravansaries for girls and boys and three dining halls. 

The academy provides the scholars with proper structure for all games out-of-door and inner- Justice, Football, Hockey, Swimming, Athletics, Basketball, Field Tennis, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Squash, Badminton, Chess, Snooker, Billiards, Firing, Diving, Gymnastics.

Registration for the upcoming academic year for Classes III through VIII for boys and girls begins in September and lasts until December for Sherwood College entrance. There is no option for handwritten registrations, thus interested candidates must register themselves online. Entrance exam and interview will be used to determine admission to Sherwood College.

 

 The registration process is as follows:

  • Registration is done through the official website. 
  • The applicant will receive an entrance date, which will be dated from September to December. Following which a writing round will be held online or offline.
  • The subjects of English, Hindi and Mathematics  will all be tested online.
  • If the applicant clears the writing round, the date for the Interview will be mailed.
  • If the applicant clears the interview, an offer letter will be sent within 2-3 weeks and further the applicant can proceed with fee deposition.

The school uses the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) curriculum, and students in classes X and XII take the ICSE and ISC board exams, respectively. Students in this institution are in grades III through XII. 

Two recent innovations include the implementation of a computer literacy curriculum for all students in grades VI through XII and the start of co-education in class III.

Amitabh Shrivastav, better known by his stage name Amitabh Bachchan, was an Indian actor, playback singer, film producer, television personality, and former politician. He was born on October 11, 1942, and is best known for his work in Hindi cinema. He is recognised as one of the most popular and significant performers in Indian film history. The Shahenshah of Bollywood, Star of the Millennium, or Big B are all terms used to refer to him. The Shahenshah of Bollywood is a reference to his 1988 film Shahenshah. The French director François Truffaut referred to the Indian film business throughout the 1970s and 1980s as a "one-man industry" due to his domination in the sector.

 

A civil officer from India, Fateh Chand Badhwar OBE (1900–10–10–1955) was the first Indian to hold the position of Chairman of the Railway Board. Father of Badhwar was an Indian Civil Service officer. After graduating from Sherwood College in Nainital, he continued his education at Cambridge University, where he pursued a Mechanical Science Tripos degree.

 

Indian actor Jameel Khan is well-known for his role in the television series Gullak. Khan, who was born in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, attended Sherwood College in Nainital and Aligarh Muslim University for his education. He relocated to Mumbai to pursue his acting career, and he has appeared in movies including Baby, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Asambhav. Additionally, he appeared in the movie Beneath the Sea of Lights with Jim Sarbh and Academy Award nominee Barkhad Abdi.

 

He began his career in 1991 after graduating from Sherwood College in Nainital with the popular Hindi film Saudagar. Since then, he has acted in numerous additional films, including Ram Jaane, Aisi Bhi Kya Jaldi Hai, First Love Letter, and Anjaane, all of which were directed by Sachin. Along with Kittie Party on Zee, Bhaskar Bharti on Sony, and Ae Dil-E-Naadaan on Doordarshan, he has also appeared in the sitcom Son Pari on STAR Plus TV. His most recent job was on the Sony TV series Baat Hamari Pakki Hai. His CD Kahin Kho Gaya contains songs he has performed.

 

Actor Kabir Bedi OMRI is from India. In three different media—film, television, and theatre. His career has covered three continents, including India, the United States, and mainly Italy among other European nations. He is most known for playing the evil Sanjay Verma in the 1980s movie Khoon Bhari Maang and the Emperor Shah Jahan in Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story. In Italy and throughout Europe, he is most recognised for his roles as the pirate Sandokan in the well-liked Italian TV miniseries and the evil Gobinda in the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy. Bedi is an Indian national who resides in Mumbai.

 

Life at our school

With a rich history spanning over 160 years, Woodstock has played a significant role in shaping the world we live in today. The school was established during the East India Company’s rule, and was managed by Americans during the British Raj. At times, it even served as a refuge for those who opposed British rule in India. Over the years, the school has witnessed two World Wars, Indian independence and partition, and several subsequent political upheavals, all of which have left their mark on the alumni and Henneettee kal.
