This School is one of the best schools in Dehradun. The dedicated and skilled teachers here guarantee that the youngsters of this school get the most out of their education. One of India's top academies is Welham Girls' School. Schools now admit students based on their performance on entrance tests in today's world of fierce competition. This is done in order to choose the top students for their schools.
The limited number of places in each institution is a further justification for administering these tests. One of these schools is Welham Girls' School. In 1957, the school was founded. From 10 pupils to 550 students since then, the school has experienced incredible growth. Each year, thousands of students apply for admission to this institution.
Welham lives by its motto - “aartt shanti phala vidya” (the aim of education is to bring peace to the suffering) – and students who attend Welham are united by a deep commitment of one to another and of each to the whole. Integrity and civility, as well as being empathetic and humane, remain steadfast ideals at Welham. The School fosters inclusion and inspires students to understand their strengths and capabilities.
Keeping in mind the current practices in education, the school has conscientiously moved towards a more student-directed learning. There is great emphasis on providing a hands-on experience to the students through field trips, live experiments, cross-curricular blended learning, research work and presentations. There is a paradigm shift in the process of learning wherein the focus is on the acquisition of creative and critical thinking skills within a holistic environment.
Life’s greatest lessons are learnt on the games field and sports create an equal opportunity to shine and grow. Sports not only give children an outlet for channelizing their energy in a positive way but also help them in dealing with their emotions. At Welham Girls’ School, Physical Education is an integral part of the daily school routine. All students are expected to play games regularly. All sports disciplines are given equal importance and are played with great enthusiasm under the guidance of specialised coaches. School teams regularly participate in district, state and national level tournaments. The Sports Day is an annual event of importance, generating great excitement as a culmination of a year -long inter house sports competitions.
